LIFE VANGUARD (LIVA) YOUTHS OSUN STATE AND NASSARAWA CENTRE FOR WOMEN, YOUTH AND COMMUNITY ACTION (NACWYCA) VISIT TO IYDC KANO


IYDC youth forum organized an interstate visit with the youths on National Youth Exchange Programme from Life Vanguards Youth Organization (LIVA) from Oshogbo Osun state and NACWYCA from Nassarawa state to develop leadership skills between young people and promote cross cultural learning to enhance youths involvement in sustainable development projects in their different communities. The purpose is to promote national cooperation, harmony, to understand and appreciate different cultures within the Nigerian states

DEBATE TO ACTION CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM FOR YOUTH ORGANISATIONs


The world bank/British council Debate to Action {DTA} program is a Training of Trainers program aimed at youth leaders in Youth Serving Organizations and Youth Service Corps. The program was designed and implemented in cooperation with the ministry of intergovernmental affairs and youths through the office of the director of the youth the NYSC as well as the national youth council. Participants learn about the MDGs and Needs, how to effectively share the information with other people in their communities and how to determine their own roles within the framework. IYDC youths were represented five days seminar in 2006 & 2008.

SAFE LIFE PLAN (SLIP)


FACING THE DRAGON-Safe life plan (SLIP}, was the IYDC youth advocacy program develop in 2005 to instill negotiation skills for safe life among the school youths. The SLIP program was a one year program spread into four terms targeting. Its primary objective was to introduce basic reproductive health information and negotiation skills to youths of ten to twenty four years. It was an interaction program that trained youth on various ways to enhance their skills on how to protect themselves from various levels of life risks especially those related to unplanned pregnancies, abstinence, unsafe sex, and HIV/AIDS.

IYDC CELEBRATES 2006 WORLD AIDS DAY


1ST December is a memorable day for the worlds AIDs day. IYDC sent out forms to youths in Kano for essay writing on the role of the Nigerian youths in the prevention of HIV/AIDS in line with the global theme for 2006 World AIDs day accountability slogan ‘Stop Aids. Keep the promise’. Forty youths participated in the essay writing certificates are awarded to the essay writers. Also to mark the worlds Aids day, IYDC youths went to the street and secondary schools to access the Knowledge of people of Kano on HIV/AIDs, Attitudes towards prevention and Practice to prevent further spread.
